The second 90-minute Free Practice session in Dubai saw the no91 Pure Rxcing Oreca-Gibson top the timing screens as the sunset in the UAE. Julien Andlauer’s best lap of 1m48.790 was four tenths quicker than the rest of the field but 1.5 seconds slower than the best lap from FP1.
The fastest car from FP1, the no20 Algarve Pro Racing, was second quickest in FP2 with a 1m49.227 lap set by Olli Caldwell, who was 0.045s ahead of the no3 DKR Engineering of Laurents Horr.
The no26 Bretton Racing Ligier was the quickest of the LMP3 after Griffin Peebles set a 1m55.387, 0.4 seconds ahead of the no49 High Class Racing Ligier and 1.4 seconds ahead of the third fastest car, the no43 Inter Europol Competition Ligier driven by Kevin Rabin.
The no92 Mathey EMA Porsche headed the GT field as the chequered flag brought the session to a close. Riccardo Pera’s lap of 1m59.033 was just 0.062s ahead of the second placed car, the no12 Car Collection Motorsport Porsche 911 of Nico Menzel, who in turn was 0.237s ahead of the no74 Kessel Racing Ferrari, with Dennis Marschall posting the best lap in the Ferrari 296.
Qualifying for the 4 Hours of Dubai will take place tomorrow morning, starting with the GT category at 09h40 GST / 06h40 CET and 10h05 GST / 07h05 CET for LMP2 and LMP3.
