The first of two 4-hour races in Dubai on the 7th February will mark the resumption of the 2024/25 Asian Le Mans Series. The 4 Hours of Dubai will take place in the UAE on the 7th and 8th February with the 4 Hours of Abu Dhabi on the 14th-15th February providing the season finale.
The opening two races of the 2024/25 season in Malaysia last month provided an exciting opening to the season with close finishes in all three classes in the first race of the weekend on Saturday 7th December and the weather providing a different type of drama during the second race on Sunday 8th December.
LMP2: RD Limited Leads After Impressive Debut in Sepang
The no30 RD Limited Oreca-Gibson is leading the championship standings after the French team won on their LMP2 and ALMS debut and finished second in race 2. Fred Poordad, James Allen and Tristan Vautier head to Dubai on 43 points, 6 points ahead of reigning champions Algarve Pro Racing on 37 points after Malthe Jakobsen, Michael Jensen and Valerio Rinicella finished 4th in race 1 and won the second race of the weekend.
The no83 AF Corse Oreca-Gibson is third on 26 points with the no20 Algarve Pro Racing fourth with 23 points.
LMP3: Perfect Start for Ultimate in Sepang
The no35 Ultimate Ligier-Nissan made the perfect start to the season in Malaysia taking maximum points at the end of the 4 Hours of Sepang weekend. Bence Valint, Matteo Quintarelli and Stephane Lemeret won both races from pole position and head to Dubai on 52 points. The no49 High Class Racing Ligier is second on 36 points after Anders Fjordbach and Mark Patterson impressed by finishing second in both races.
The no15 RLR MSport Ligier is 3rd in the championship standings on 25 points, just one point ahead of the no26 Bretton Racing Ligier.
GT: Winward Racing Leads after Competitive Start in Sepang
The no81 Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO run by German team Winward Racing left Malaysia with a seven-point lead at the head of the GT standings after Jules Gounon, Gabriele Piana and Rinat Salikhov won the second race of the weekend in Malaysia, adding 25-points to the 10 points secured for 5th place in race 1 to head to the UAE on 35 points.
The no28 AF Corse Ferrari 296 GT3 finished the weekend on 28 points to keep in touch with the Winward Racing Crew after Davide Rigon, Manuel Franco and Massimiliano Wiser took a 4th placed finish in race 1 and 3rd in race 2 from pole position.
Race 1 winners Esteban Masson, Yudai Uchida and Daniel Serra left Sepang on 25 points after a DNF in the no57 Car Guy Ferrari 296 GT3 in race 2. Takeshi Kimura will be back in the no57 Ferrari after Yudai Uchida stood in for him in Malaysia.
The no51 AF Corse Ferrari heads to Round 2 on 20-points in 4th place overall, 2 points ahead of the no10 Manthey Porsche 911 GT3 R, with the no92 Manthey EMA Porsche in 6th on 15 points.
The 4 Hours of Dubai weekend gets underway with two 90-minute Free Practice sessions on Friday 7thFebruary, Qualifying and Race 1 on Saturday 8th February and Race 2 on Sunday 9th February.
The Asian Le Mans Series will be joined in Dubai by the F4 UAE and FR Middle East Championships, providing the fans with a great mixture of sportscar and single seater action.
