The Last Hurrah for the Nissan V8 Powered LMP3

The Last Hurrah for the Nissan V8 Powered LMP3
12/02/2025

This weekend in Abu Dhabi will mark the final two races in an ACO championship for the current generation of LMP3 cars powered by the 5.6 litre V8 Nissan engine that has been in use since the class made its debut in 2016.

The two races for the 4 Hours of Abu Dhabi will take place on Saturday and Sunday, with seven Ligier JS P320s taking part in the 2024/25 season finale.

The new generation of LMP3 cars will be powered by the new Toyota V35A V6 Twin Turbo engine, with the new cars racing for the first time at the start of April in the opening rounds of the 2025 Michelin Le Mans Cup and European Le Man Series in Barcelona, Spain.

All four LMP3 manufacturers, Ligier, Duqueine, Ginetta and Adess will be represented in Barcelona, all powered by the new engine that is more frugal on fuel, more powerful and quieter than the Nissan V8 it replaces.

The new generation of LMP3 cars will be eligible in the Asian Le Mans Series for the 2025/26 season.

So, enjoy the V8 roar this weekend as we mark the final two races of the mighty Nissan V8 engine in Abu Dhabi.
