4 Hours of Fuji

With hardly enough time to catch their breath after a thrilling start to the season, the Asian Le Mans Series teams and drivers will make their way to Japan for Round 2 this weekend. 

Located at the base of Mt Fuji, the iconic Fuji Speedway has a long and impressive motorsport history. It has also been an important part of the ACO racing calendar holding a round of the FIA WEC every year since 2012, as well as the Asian Le Mans Series since 2013.  

It is the home round for Car Guy, the team that claimed the GT Class victory in the opening round of the season, the Agile 4 Hours of Shanghai. The team is located around the corner from the circuit and are hoping the new yellow livery on their Ferrari 488 GT3 will bring them success in the 4 Hours of Fuji.

Kei Cozzolino -Team Manager and driver Car Guy:

“Our main target is to win in Fuji. We are not interested in finishing second or third. 
 
“In the opening round in Shanghai, we were able to win because we had some luck but on the other hand as a team we were quite strong.  
“Fuji is Car Guy’s home track and it is the perfect venue to prove our maximum potential.”

Another driver who will be hoping for home ground advantage is Nobuya Yamanaka. Nobuya and his Eurasia Motorsport team mate Aidan Read head to the 4 Hours of Fuji fresh from a podium finish in the opening round of the Asian Le Mans Series.

“The circuit is located in the beautiful scenery at the foot of the symbolic Mt. Fuji which I like as it is one of most challenging and beautiful courses in Japan. The first corner at the end of 1.4km home straight, the high speed 100R and the uphill corners in 3rd sector are all challenging.  
“I’m looking forward to the race very much and hope I can perform a little better with my hometown advantage to assist Aidan Read to bring the best result to the team Eurasia Motorsport.”

1.4㎞の長いホームストレートの終わりにある第1コーナー、Aコーナーから続く高速の１００R、そして、第3セクターの登りのコーナーはどれもチャレンジングです  

私はこのレースをとても楽しみにしています。そして、ホームコースのアドバンテージを活かし私のチームメイトのAidan ReadをアシストしてEurasiaチームに最高の結果をもたらしたいと望んでいます。

Up for grabs – four invitations to the 24 Hours of Le Mans:

In addition to the glory of winning the outright and class championships, the teams will be fighting for an elusive invitation to the 24 Hours of Le Mans.  
The winners of the LMP2 and LMP3 classes will each receive an invitation to compete in the LMP2 class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2019. New for the 2018/19 Asian Le Mans Series, there will be an added recognition for LMP2 amateur entries – not only will they be fighting for their own Championship honours, they will also be for an invitation. There will also be one invitation to race in the LM GTE Am class for the winner of the GT class.
